Journal 4

I choose this article because it talks about overpopulation over the world. And as we learned in class when overpopulation occurs many problems arise such as, deforestation, birth rate, natural income etc. which all leads to a unstable environment. This can also lead to global issues such as global warming and effect the economy. I think if the population increases around the world don't decrease within the next 15 years national governments world wide will be enforcing laws on how many children a family can have.

This article struck me as something important because though we don't know all the facts about global warming its still a huge issue in the world.
But what struck me the most as interesting and important was the last little paragraph, "At the heart of the debate is a momentous tussle between rich and poor countries over who steps up first and who pays most for changed energy menus." Which seems to me that all countries poor and rich need to unite and help in this effort to solve the mysteries etc of global warming or were all doomed.

I liked this article because we learned in this class how much exactly our ecological footprint is. I myself use a lot of electricity and from what the ecological footprint website said it would take about 3.9 planets to support my footprint but by having turbines and using the Cape's Wind. This may be a cheaper and more efficient way for using power it saves on electicrty which lowers the footprint. The problems are the price and the problems of putting some many turbines out there in the water.
I feel using electricity the way we use it now will become a obsolete form in energy for mankind and used as a back up if all else fails. This may happen in the next 20 years this could happen now and be put in the Nantucket sound.
During industrialization in American they used water and a wheel type device for water to power factors and it worked to have mills and produce. So now its time to use a energy source like tha, but in this case wind to power homes on Cape and Islands and eventually farther.
